In the beginning, there were little swimmers and a pool. We all splashed around with only one goal in mind--fun. We didn't show up to win medals, we showed up to see our friends and have a great time. We were ordinary kids that learned eventually that hard work could make something extraordinary happen. We weren't chasing fame but chasing each other. Now our goal is to remind the next generation of swimmers that they, too, can do something extraordinary. I'm spending the week at Junior Nationals in Irvine, CA and I'm watching my son compete. I'm reminded that everyone has to start somewhere. You have to begin before you can win. Build a strong foundation of perfect technique in the beginning. The wider your technical base is, the higher you can achieve. Look for a swim clinic near you and let us share the techniques that launched us on our Olympic journey.
